India – Where to go

Full of mysticism and diversity, India becomes a must-see country in Asia. A British colony till 1947, counts with more then 21 national languages and a very rich history, also remembered by the image of the political leader Mahatma Gandhi.

If you are thinking about going there you have to be aware that Índia is a big country, that´s why knowing the best spots makes a huge difference. Than the route and all the tiny details will be decided according to your preferences.
With a huge population of 1 billion people, a enormous mix of ethnic groups and a rich culture, the country attracts different kind of visitors. While some of them are interested in knowing the main cities and their momuments, others look for the spiritual leaders searching for peace of spirit in the budist and hindu teachings.

Not in vain Índia was the big search of the past centuries, untill today the biggest cities are full of markets and bazaars selling all kinds of spices, fabrics and decoration articles. The most known cities of the country are Delhi, Calcutta and Bombay. Delhi is the capital and also the second most important and biggest city in the country. The city was projected by one british architect and has a mix of the new avenues and imponent constructions, with the old and traditional monuments. The most popular spots are the Humayun Tumb, the Akshardham Temple and the Qutb Minar.

Calcutta was the old british colony base and today is known as the intelectual capital of India. The city is privileged with the amazing geography between the deltas of Ganges and Bramaputra. You have to see the New Market, the Botanic Garden and the Kali Temple there.
Bombay, or Mumbai, is another busy city. The street attractions and the city routine are for themselves touristic events. There are amazing places next to the beach and another quiet and peaceful spots around the city. The meaning tours are at Gandhi Museum and at the sculpted caves of Elephanta Island.
And, if you are not satisfied there is Agra and the famous Taj Mahal. Another great spot to visit and one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
